The New Album is progressing well

Mika will play at the Dum Ducker Dum music festival in Norwich this weekend
This weekend (Saturday 20th October) Mika will play at The Workshop in Norwich as part of the Dum Ducker Dum music festival. She'll play as part of the acoustic session from 1pm-6pm and will take to the stage around 3pm. Henri Vaxby will joining her on guitar and ukelele and this will probably be the last chance to catch Mika live in Norwich this year (plus it's free entry and a lovely venue!). Mika's tracks are currently being played on Folk Radio UK (www.folkradio.co.uk), an excellent online radio station specialising in folk music new and old. It's easy to stream via something like Itunes and free to listen. We can't be specific about exactly when Mika's tunes will be played, but you'll hear some great music whenever you listen. So go on, tune in! And we've just heard that Mika's song 'Destination You' was voted Number 9 in last week's top 40 chart, voted for by listeners of station. Yipee! Thanks Folk Radio listeners!
Also, for you Norfolk listeners, Mika will be interviewed on BBC Radio Norfolk next Thursday 21st June at 3pm. Tune in to hear her have a chat with Roy Waller (BBC Radio Norfolk Website).

EP MIxed and a Review
Well Mika's been busy mixing her debut EP (Check the GALLERY page soon for pics of her mixing at The Way studio in London with John Rose). Mika has been in discussions with Brighton-based singer-songwriter, Al Start, about gigging together in the near future. Mika and Al will share The Ocean Rooms Brighton gig in August, aswell as the Women's Stage at Brighton Pride, but plans are in motion to set up some more dates. In November Mika will support Al for the london leg of her UK tour at The Troubadour. More details nearer the time!

Put together by Al Start and her record label Lone Coyote Records, the evening is one of the official events for this year's Pride celebrationas in Brighton and Hove, and it will raise money for Brighton Women's Centre as well as showcase some of the artists performing at the Women's Performance Tent the next day as part of the Pride Festival in Preston Park. Capacity for The Ocean Rooms is only 150 so if you want to come, book your tickets fast as this is likely to sell out! See GIGS section for further details about booking.

Following a fabulous gig at the wonderful Bush Hall in London a couple of months back, Mika has retreated into the studio to work on recording her debut solo release. With contributions lined up from Cath Kontz (keyboard, wurlitzer, piano and cello) of the band Cartridge; Sam Taylor (cello and guitars) of Royal Treatment Plant; Amelia Grenfell (violin) and...the newest addition...the fabulous jazz drummer Dave Smith (percussion) of Cartridge et al. Also in the pipeline is some double bass and a possible guest recorder slot (you know who you are!).
All in all, it is very exciting, and we look forward to some truly magnificent results!

Friday 4th August sees Mika team up with fellow singer-songwriters Al Start and Belinda O'Hooley in an all girl line up at The Ocean Rooms for a pre-Pride warm-up gig and fundraiser for The Women's Stage at Brighton Pride. Saturday 5th August, Mika plays The Women's Stage at Brighton Pride Festival in Preston Park. Last year this festival, the largest free Pride festival in the UK, was enormous. This year it's likely to be even bigger!
